About Me

I am, admittedly, a clumsy follower of Christ. I am a Bible-believing, (former) beer-drinking, neighbor-loving, equality-promoting Christian who has grace for others, because I need a LOT of it for myself.

Back in 2012 (before I lost my taste for booze completely), I adopted the title, The Beer Drinking Angel from one my favorite quotes, in one of my favorite books, by one of my favorite authors.

“When I get honest, I admit I am a bundle of paradoxes. I believe and I doubt, I hope and get discouraged, I love and I hate, I feel bad about feeling good, I feel guilty about not feeling guilty. I am trusting and suspicious. I am honest and I still play games. Aristotle said I am a rational animal; I say I am an angel with an incredible capacity for beer.” ― Brennan Manning, The Ragamuffin Gospel: Good News for the Bedraggled, Beat-Up, and Burnt Out

I’ve lived a lot of life—more than some who are decades my senior. I don’t claim to have it all figured out. I’m just mouthy and opinionated.

This blog will be a lot about my personal journey through life and my struggles with faith and conventional religion. The Jesus that I hope you find here is one who is ever-ready to love, offers abundant grace and forgiveness, and is faithful even when we are not.

“I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us” (Romans 8:38-39 – The Message).

By day, I am a bestselling fiction author. You can find my books on my main website: www.eliciahyder.com.
